External Affairs Minister Reaffirms Strong Partnership with Bangladesh

In his remarks Remarks to the Media at Jamuna State Guest House, Dhaka, Bangladesh on August 20, 2019 during his visit to the country, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishanker indicated that purpose of this visit is both to affirm what is being a very strong partnership as well as to prepare for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India in the autumn and to signal publicly the importance that they attach to the relationship. In India’s Neighbourhood First Policy, India Bangladesh relationship is seen very much as a model and the ties have actually transcended a strategic partnership and India is honoured to be a leading development partner of Bangladesh. He called the period a ‘sonali adhyay’ in India Bangladesh ties and thanks to the vision and statesmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Issues discussed during the visit were on security improved partnership against crime, extremism and terrorist groups of direct benefit to the people of both countries.  In terms of connectivity, the increased connectivity in air, sea, waterways and surface transport generates growth and income for both sides.................
