Bangladesh Terrorist Groups: More Neo JMB Cadres Arrested

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit have arrested four members of the militant group “Neo-JMB” from Dhaka’s Ramna area.

There are also concerns that Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (HuJI) a Deobandi militant group with branches in Pakistan and Bangladesh is said to be attempting a come back.

Known as the HuJIB or Bangladesh the group is demanding Islamic rule in India and Bangladesh and supports Rohingya insurgents in the Rakhine province of Myanmar as per the Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC), Standford University which has tracked growth of the group.

The main Pakistani branch was founded in 1979 at the start of the Soviet-Afghan war and was led by Qari Saifullah Akhtar until his death in 2017. ......................
