Bangladesh military denies takeover to end blockade The military on Sunday (February 8th) denied speculation it planned to intervene to end deepening political unrest, warning media against reporting on any "imaginary" role in the crisis, AFP reported."The armed forces is a patriotic organisation that is totally respectful to the country's constitution and laws," the military said in a statement.It said it was compelled to speak out against "speculative and imaginary" media reports about the military stepping in, because they "could create confusion among the people".Violence during the blockade has left at least 80 people dead, hundreds of others injured and has cost the economy nearly $10 billion, according to business leaders.Authorities deployed thousands of troops and police to guard...
