Bangladesh Delays Sonadia Deep Sea Port Deal with China Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was expected to ink a deal with China for construction of the Sonadia deep sea port during her visit to China from 6 to 10 June 2014; however the government has apparently delayed the same. Reports in media in Dhaka indicate that the Hasina led government is likely to go in for a consortium as there is pressure from a number of sources including possibly India and the UAE. India’s External Affairs Minister, Ms Sushma Swaraj is expected to visit Dhaka in the last week of June, while Hasina is due to visit the UAE in August.
