Trump Skeptical About Success of Afghan Peace Negotiations

U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday that his administration was conducting "very strong" peace negotiations in Afghanistan but that he was not sure whether they would be successful. Trump made the remarks during a Thanksgiving teleconference call with U.S. troops stationed in the war-ravaged country. He also hinted he might visit Afghanistan, where the U.S. has been engaged since shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on U.S. soil. "We're in very strong negotiations in Afghanistan right now, which a lot of people don't know that. This might be the first, but we are in very, very strong negotiations in Afghanistan. … We'll see what happens. We are talking about peace and we'll see if that happens," the president said............
