OSINT Report: Afghan Taliban Agenda for Talks - Sharing Power


National Unity Government (NUG) in Afghanistan has been reaching out to the Taliban for some time now. Starting with the offer made by President Ashraf Ghani during the Kabul Peace Process in the end of February, there have been many attempts to seek talks with the rebels who claim to continue to hold sway over large tracts of the country. A seminal Ulema Conference was held in Bogor Indonesia on 11 May attended by religious preachers from Afghanistan and Pakistan along with the host nation. Taliban did not send any representative but the son of Pakistan’s Ulema leader Sami ul Haq reportedly represented the group and moderated statements issued on the occasion. The Afghan Ulema in a Jirga in Kabul appealed for a cease fire on the occasion of the Eid al Fitr which was agreed to by the NUG and extended after the celebrations...............
