NATO Continues to Stress Support to Afghan Forces

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stressed NATO’s unflinching commitment to Afghanistan despite recent events that have led to some concerns.

In his meeting with the U.S. envoy for Afghan peace Zalmay Khalilzad on the margins of the UN General Assembly highlighted the commitment. According to a statement released by NATO as per Khaama News, “They discussed the security situation in Afghanistan and NATO’s support for the peace talks.”

The statement further added that the Secretary General welcomed Ambassador Khalilzad’s regular briefings to the North Atlantic Council. The statement also added “He stressed that NATO’s focus remains unchanged: to make the Afghan security forces stronger, so that they can fight international terrorism and create the conditions for lasting peace.”........................
