Data Int Report: Afghanistan Violence - Four Months Jan – April 2019

The provinces of Nangarhar, Faryab, Helmand and Kandahar , Ghazni and Jawzjan  have seen maximum violence in the first four months of the year 2019. There has been no violence in Bamyan, Nuristan and Panjsher  in the past four months thus denoting these as the safest provinces in the country. In 2018 as well these provinces had seen limited violence. The increase in violence in April was anticipated with commencement of the spring – summer offensive by both sides even as the sixth round of talks with the Taliban resumed in Doha, Qatar with the US Special Envoy for Afghan Negotiations, Zalmay Khalilzad. Afghan National Defence and Security Forces (ANDSF) supported by the Resolute Support Mission (RSM) launched the spring summer offensive named Operation Khalid, after the Afghan acting defence minister,  Asadullah Khalid who has taken an openly aggressive approach and is expected to upscale the attacks...........................
