Afghan Presidential Elections – Ghani in the Lead

The Transparent Election Foundation of Afghanistan (TEFA) in a nationwide survey has claimed that President Ashraf Ghani is leading in the Presidential polls that are to be held on 28 September closely followed by the Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah. During ongoing campaigning, Ghani said the Taliban has no experience in nation building “We want Afghanistan not “Talibistan” [the land of the Taliban],” Mr. Ghani said, referring to the Taliban’s demand for establishing their so-called emirate system in Afghanistan as per Tolonews. Meanwhile the Peace and Moderation electoral team led by Mohammad Haneef Atmar has announced suspension of election campaigns for next month’s presidential elections indicating that this was due to the alleged illegal actions by the two incumbents the President and the CEO who are using government facilities and privileges during the campaigning. Meanwhile there are also issues such as internal differences between Atmar’s team and his main supporter Atta Mohammad Noor that has led to his pull out from the race after an ambitious start...................
