Afghan Presidential Candidate Calls for End to Vote-Counting Afghan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah called for a halt to vote-counting from Saturday's runoff election because of fraud allegations, raising the possibility of a political crisis during the country's first democratic transition of power. Abdullah said Wednesday that he had asked election officials to immediately stop the counting process. He said if the process continued, it would have no legitimacy. While ballot boxes have yet to reach the capital Kabul for counting, Abdullah said preliminary figures and other evidence collected by his team show mass fraud, Reuters reported.
