Afghan National Army's Operational Surge The Afghan National Army (ANA) launched series clearance operations in the most trouble prone districts in the country in July (2013). The Logar province was in limelight with operations launched to clear the Muhammad Agha and Khak-e-Jabar districts.  The Azra district was also being similarly cleared and it is expected that the rebels may be evicted due to sustained pressure from the ANA. This would have to be followed up by establishing a security grid in the district so that the possibility of return is negated. Logar is an important province with a large number of Taliban leaders coming from the same and also falling in the transit area to Kabul.
