Afghan National Army – Heavy Casualties Due to Faulty Deployment A report by the Ministry of Defence in Afghanistan stated that Taliban militants attacked an army outpost near the border with Pakistan, killing 13 soldiers on 12 April 2013. The Ministry spokesman Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi was quoted by the media as stating that the rebels attacked a military post in the Narai district of Kunar province on the Pakistan border and reportedly captured the outpost. The Third Battalion of the Second Brigade  of 201st Military Corps was manning the post as per the New York Times and was cleared by the US forces to operate independently.
