Gaza: India Must Stand for Proportionate Response and Avoidance of Civilian Casualties   Ever since the present round of crisis broke out in Gaza with cross border exchange of rockets, air strikes and ground attacks now launched by Israel, India has persisted with an ambiguous approach which has been the policy over the years. This does injustice to basic principles of employment of force that India has stood for even in the wake of grave provocations against its own people, “proportionate response”. Why then is the Indian government accepting violation of this basic belief even disallowing a debate in the parliament in the first place on the widespread death of innocents, women and children in streets and open beaches bombed by Israel air planes?
