Abrogation of INF to Impact Missile Developments in Indo Asia Pacific

It is not just North Korea but the United States and Russia are now planning to increase the range and potential of their missiles with the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty a part of history. United States formally withdrew from the INF on 2 August and within weeks has conducted the first ground launch cruise missile test with a potential range beyond 500 kms. The INF proscribed possession and testing of non strategic weapons having a range of 500 to 5500 kms Under the Treaty R&D is permitted but flight testing and/or deployment is not. The United States Department of Defense in a press release on 19 August stated that, “Department of Defense conducted a flight test of a conventionally-configured ground-launched cruise missile at San Nicolas Island, California. The test missile exited its ground mobile launcher and accurately impacted its target after more than 500 kilometers of flight”............................
