ISSUE BRIEF 1/10/2013
ESTABLISHING QUALITATIVE DIFFERENCES IN INDIA RUSSIA, INDO US AND INDIA CHINA RELATIONS: AN ASSESSMENT OF SEP- OCT 2013 SUMMITS
The months of September and October 2013 have been seminal for India’s strategic relations. There was substantive summit level engagement between India and three key members of the UN Security Council (UNSC), the United States, Russia and China. In many ways this is the major power bloc in global polity that is set to supplement the traditional P 5 of the UNSC. India is now a natural member on the high table though not acknowledged as such but dictated by its emerging position in geo-politics.
Against this backdrop for a composite review of relations between India – US, Russia and China the dialogue held during the Summits and joint statements issued provide a perspective on respective points of views of India as well as the other three countries on global and regional issues. This will also enable measurement of variation in relations between India and these countries providing valuable inputs for future policy making.
This 4500 Word [Less Appendices] Issue Brief thus covers various tracks of engagement between India and the US, Russia and China as identified in the joint statement through a content analysis in tabulated form for ease of reference along with specific as well as general comments. A must have for contemporary policy makers, academia and media on India.
