Two Ghadir-class submarines officially join Iran’s naval fleet - Mehr News
Two Ghadir-class submarines joined the fleet of the Iranian Navy on Thursday morning in a ceremony held at Bandar Abbas with the Commander of Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi in attendance.
It is 40 years that sanctions are imposed on the Iranian nations, said Khanzadi in the ceremony, adding that despite all these pressures, Iran has never faced any crisis while coming out of all challenged victorious.
Currently, Iran enjoys the powerful naval fleets of the Army and IRGC which are in full coordination with each other to ensure the security of the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and Gulf of Oman, he added.
He went on to say that the first domestically-made Fateh-class submarine will join the Navy in the coming month and it will surprise the enemies.
The Fateh (Conqueror) submarine is a 100-percent domestically-sourced technology manufactured at the Ministry of Defense.
The 600-ton Fateh is among semi-heavy submarines and is equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry such as torpedoes and naval mines. It can operate more than 200 meters below the sea surface for near five weeks, according to Navy officials.
Khanzadi highlighted that Iran is now capable of manufacturing a destroyer in less than two years, adding that the domestic naval fleet of Iran is completely produced in the country.
