Despite a push by the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and the Home Minister Mr P Chidambaram, there was no progress in consensus with State Chief Ministers for formation of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).
On May 18, 2012, the Home Minister Mr P Chidambaram he held a meeting with the Directors General of BSF, CRPF, ITBP & CISF to review the situation in LWE-affected States.
Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh inaugurated the Conference of Chief Ministers, in New Delhi on 16 April. The Conference was under the shadow of criticism of the Centre’s proposal of establishing National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).
