ICICI Bank Issues Alert against fishing calls ICICI Bank one of the largest private banks in India has issued an alert against fishing calls. The Bank circular through Email to customers has asked clients to be careful about fraudulent callers seeking your bank details. The Bank states that bank representatives will never ask for personal banking details. In addition a few scenarios where a fraudster might be at work are also portrayed such as:- “Your account will be deactivated, unless you do…” “This call is to verify your account details, if you do not verify your account will be closed” “Bank is offering you an upgrade of your Debit Card…” “Your Reward Points will expire in next month, to use it…” “For security purpose, kindly update mobile number XXXXXX2456 in your account using ATM/Debit Card on IVR” The callers may possess a few of basic personal details such as name or phone number. The Banks warns that personal banking details such as: User ID, Account Number, OTP to generate password online, transaction and Service Requests and Grid values on Reverse of Debit Card should not be revealed on telephone under any circumstances Voice phishing also known as Vishing (V+ishing) is the criminal practice of exploiting telephone to gain access to private personal and financial information from the public for the purpose of illicit financial reward as per the Wikipedia
